Holistic lifestyle refers to living your life in a way that nourishes your Body, Mind, and Soul. When you live holistically, you learn to look at the bigger picture and connect with the totality of the world around you. The holistic lifestyle does not focus on just one aspect of wellness (e.g. nutrition) because everything matters, as everything is connected. Living holistically means observing yourself in its entirety and creating a life that suits you and nourishes you on every level.
The holistic lifestyle sheds light on 3 key aspects of being:
-
Soma
-
Nous
-
Psyche
Together, we cultivate new habits that are gradually incorporated into your daily life, using techniques and tools from various traditions and sciences.
Soma
The physical body is usually the easiest to understand and approach, as we can easily measure and see the effects of nourishment (or not), in all levels.
9 Key pillars:
- Nutrition:
Holistic nutrition, tailored to your individual needs, is the basis of nourishing the body.
- Movement:
Essential for the production of hormones of joy and well-being, such as endorphins, adrenaline, serotonin and dopamine. Through movement, emotional release is also achieved (emotion = energy in motion).
- Breathing:
We take around 25000 breaths a day. Through deep breathing and relaxation techniques, the parasympathetic nervous system (responsible for rest and digestion) is activated and healing begins.
- Sleep:
Deep quality sleep for at least 7-9 hours is of utmost importance for physical repair and “digestion” of experiences.
- Contact with nature:
We are creatures made to live outside. The sun on our bare skin, full body immersions in water, connection to animals, the forest, the mountains and the air are elements that cannot be missing from our holistic health.
- Daily care products:
The skin is the largest organ in the human body and highly absorbent. We prefer natural cosmetics, soaps, toothpastes, etc., without endocrine disruptors and toxic substances.
- Everyday household products:
We prefer cleaning products and detergents without toxic substances and endocrine disruptors. It is also advisable to wear gloves and clean in ventilated area;
- Kitchenware:
For the least possible contact with endocrine disruptors, we replace non-stick utensils with stainless steel or cast iron; another important replacement is that of plastic food boxes and water bottles with glass ones.
- Proper hygiene in the toilet:
We maintain proper posture for urination and defecation for good intestinal health and protection of the pelvic floor.
-For women only-
- Proper hygiene and care of the pelvic floor:
Depending on the needs and dysfunctions, a special rehabilitation program is given, as well as advice on holistic practices (such as yoni steaming, yoni egg and yoni wand), womb yoga and womb healing meditations.
- Menstrual Cycle Awareness:
Through various techniques and tools, we record and observe your cycle and its special needs, gradually incorporating changes that can make it improve holistically.
Nous
Taking care of our mental state is just as important as taking care of the physical body. The holistic lifestyle teaches us to take a step back and notice what happens in our mental field. What thoughts are currently going through the screen of our minds and how are we affected. Through various practices and techniques of mindfulness, meditation and yoga Nidra, we can become the observers of our thoughts, decide what it is that we really need right now and cultivate new thoughts that serve us to the maximum.
What we think, we create.
Psyche
Nourishing the soul may seem more difficult to grasp. Many understand Soul through the connection to spirituality, and this is true to a certain extent. When you live a life aligned with your values and purpose, your Soul feels nourished. When you develop deep, meaningful bonds with your own people, your Soul feels nourished. When you dedicate time to practices that make you feel fulfilled and recharged, your Soul feels nourished. When you nourish the Soul, you create a deeper relationship with yourself and with yourself world around you, while gaining a better perception, an understanding and love for life in its totality.
